Five emerging portrait photographers to follow

We choose five artists redefining photography's classic concept.

“Portraits aren’t fantasies; they need to tell the truth,” says seminal fashion photographer Tim Walker. In an age when so much art is dedicated to abstraction and escapism, portraits often become the most coherent, honest depictions of a character.

That’s not to say that the latest generation of portrait photographers lighting up the fashion and Instagram worlds are not experimental. Whether in their choice of subject, their use of light or collage techniques, emerging artists are redefining photography’s most classic concept; to capture a person in their truest form.
