Meet the illustrator playing around with psychedelia in art

Artist Kari Modén is making waves and bringing unity.

Swedish illustrator Kari Modén sure has a signature style: vibrant colours meet seventies shapes in the psychedelic pieces. Building a long and successful career thanks to this trademark playfulness, her work has featured in campaigns and on products, in magazines and newspapers alike. Loving art from a young age, Modén found the wonders of graphic design and illustration at art school, originally interested in fashion. Inspired by the work of Mats Gustavsson and the pop-art nun Sister Corita, her style has evolved to create powerfully bright pieces whilst staying true to her love of simplicity.

Modén’s pop-art and South American inspired creations have drawn interest from all walks of life, from her native Scandinavia to all around the world. Expressive and innovative, her bold creations have been commissioned in fashion, advertising and activism alike. Right now, Kari Modén is collaborating with Absolut on a limited edition bottle, and her notorious art is ready to pop out into your life. Inspired by the globe’s need for love, peace and togetherness, Modén aimed to celebrate the fun and happy parts of life, bringing positivity and unity when we need it most.
