Paula Knorr looks to 1970s NYC for SS19

Glam squad goals.

Paula Knorr’s boundary-pushing evening-wear was taken to glitzy new heights for SS19, with a glam squad evoking the essence of comfortable, yet sensual, dressing. Speaking to the designer at her packed presentation, styled by HUNGER’s fashion director Kim Howells, she said “the starting point is always to work with body and movement and create garments that make the women feel feminine and move.”

“It’s always about trying to find a new idea of eveningwear. I don’t think I have to change it drastically from season to season, but for SS19 I was thinking a lot about shapes and how to work with volume.”

The 1970s party vibe was key, featuring a seductive mix of body-con ruffled styles set in contrast to oversized cape-like contours and shiny metallic lamé dresses (“It’s about finding these strong women at a night out and Studio 54 was full of strong women,” Knorr adds).

Who would you love to see wearing your glitzy garms in 2k18? I ask. “Beyoncé, definitely!” Watch this space.
